Meet "The Elephant Girl" author Kathrine LaFleur

Children and Youth Author, Kathrine LaFleur joins us from Oakland, California to discuss her journey as a writer.  Kathrine is a teacher as well as author of four children's books.  She discovered her inner writer in the fourth grade, thanks to an amazing teacher.  That experience helped to shape her life and career path.  Kathrine now gives back, by visiting schools, to spark the writing flame within students.

"The Elephant Girl" is a novel for ages 9 and older.  This story follows the life of Kalla, a girl born to human parents, yet raised by elephants in the rainforest.  Her quest to discover her loyalties between the Elephant Tribe and the human world is challenged; leading Kalia to go on a quest to find the Oracle Stone.
