06/25/12 - "The Pink Ribbon Show"

The Worst Show on the Web takes a decidely more serious tone tonight as we address the issues raised by a new documentary now in release - "Pink Ribbons, Inc."  Director Lea Pool's film examines the commercialization of the breast cancer movement.  How did we go from simple, direct fundraising in support of research and treatment to 5K Fun Runs and yogurt purchases? 

We'll be joined tonight by Samantha King,  associate professor of physical and health education and women’s studies at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.  Ms King is the author of "Pink Ribbons, Inc. - Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy"  upon which much of the film is based.  We'll be discussing the issues raised by the film and book, and the public reaction to it so far.
