Sarah Myles Spencer is a poet/musician/activist who has worked as a writer and editor for several publications and is an established singer/songwriter having collaborated with a variety of musical artists over the years – including Davy Jones, Snoop Dog, E-40, Q-Zero, Dr. Bobby Jones, John Staedler, Grant Levin, Jim Schmidt, Christine LaPado, Bill Toliver, Charlie Robinson and more. Sarah is the 2007 Winner of The Nor Cal Idol Competition, 2009 City Wide Grand Slam Champion of Chico, Ca, two time Cammies nominee in the Jazz genre with The Groove Diggers and 2011 Cammies winner for Best Female Vocalist. Facilitating poetry workshops as an artist educator since 2004, Sarah's poem Jew Rican (Love Child) has been used as a model for diversity in classrooms from elementary all the way through college and teachers conferences. She is the author of three chapbooks: Poetic Isms and Shit From The Heart, Love Ballad to a Sidewalk Memory, and a special edition compilation with art students from Butte College called The Places we Hide. Sarah is currently working on her first full length manuscript and is most recently published in The Village Griot. Laydibluez has been her alias for over a decade as well as the name of a band that was formed around her in 2008; they recorded & released a limited edition unplugged CD in 2010.
