“On October 30, 1963, the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI”s New York office went a memo to FBI headquarters advising Hoover that a book by Louis Lomax had just been published.  The book, which the agent said was titled ‘WHEN THE WORLD IS GIVEN: A REPORT ON ELIHAH MUHAMMAD, MALCOLM X AND THE BLACK MUSLIM WORLD, was basically a study of the rise of the Nation of Islam and the path it was likely to take in the near future.  It publication was of utmost concern to the bureau because it jeopardized the anonymity of a high-level informant, inside of the Nation of Islam’s Chicago headquarters, whom the FBI was postponing to take control of the sect upon Elijah Muhammad’s death.”
