Ron Lester: 350-Pound Loser – and Lovin’ It!

Ron Lester is an American actor who’s perhaps best known for his roles in the film “Varsity Blues” and TV show “Popular.”

The Kennesaw, Ga., native began his showbiz career as a stand-up comedian after moving to Los Angeles in the mid-1990s. His first acting role was in the 1997 flick “Good Burger.” Two years later, he landed a recurring role on the Judd Apatow-produced NBC comedy “Freaks and Geeks.” He also appeared in 2001’s “Not Another Teen Movie,” in which he parodied his role as the rotund high-school student Billy Bob in “Varsity Blues.”

That same year, Ron underwent duodenal-switch surgery, which helped him shed 348 pounds over the next two years. Obese since childhood, he’d weighed a whopping 508 pounds at his heaviest. As he has discussed, Ron flatlined during the operation. And in the years since the procedure, he has had 16 plastic surgeries to remove excess skin.

Ron, 38, joins “World Talk Live!” to discuss his next career moves and upcoming projects, including his recent appearance (above) in a popular BodyBuilding.com video.
