When it comes to those resolutions invariably made after months of holiday partying, Dr. Pam Popper says, forget it! “We’ve been taught to do this at New Year’s and make a list of things we’re going to change. However, as you know, these resolutions rarely stick and many people make the same ones year after year and they just experience the same frustration over and over again,” the executive director of The Wellness Forum tells Laura Theodore, host of the PBS cooking show The Jazzy Vegetarian and its companion BlogTalkRadio series. "The missing link is having a long-term proposition in mind rather than a short-term goal. People have to make up their minds that this isn’t just until January 15. This is the beginning of changing the way you live until the end of your days. And it becomes easier when you see people like my father, who’s 82 and eats like you and I do, and weighs what he did in high school. There’s nothing he can’t do at this age. He rides a bike, goes to the gym, travels by plane, works in his own yard. And when you see him doing that you natually think, Now that’s how I want to live when I’m his age.”
