How do you ensure kids are on their best behavior at a wedding reception? Sara Shacter has just the answer. “It’s a humorous book of wedding etiquette,” she tells I Do Radio host Angela Chester of her new children’s tale, Heading to the Wedding. “The story revolves around Patrick and his little sister Evie, who are invited to a wedding. But their parents are worried about how it’s going to go, so they have a practice wedding at home. And Evie marries a Dracula action figure, while a stuffed T-Rex presides over the ceremony. Along the way, they learn all the do’s and don’t’s of being a wedding guest. So when they attend the real wedding, it’s of course a smashing success. What I was shooting for is something that was completely non-denomenational. And kids really want to be involved in grown-up events, but we have to tell them what’s expected.”
