Cake designer Kerry Vincent insists that 30 days is far from sufficient lead time for booking your wedding baker. “There’s so much rubbish on the Internet and editorial advice in magazines that says, Oh you only need to get your cake designer a month before. That’s the worst possible thing they can do!” the Food Network Challenge judge tells Core Buisness Group host Tim Jacquet. “If you want a cake that’s unique, you need to give the designer at least three months. If that designer is bombarded with requests for huge tiered cakes just a month out, what’s going to result is shoddy design work. In many ways it’s easier to get your dress than it is to get your cake. Because there are hundreds of dress designers out there whose products you can readily get. But if you’re living in a small or medium sized town, your choices on the confection front will be much narrower.”
It's good to talk.
