Eisenhans, translated from German as "Iron Hans," or by Robert Bly as "Iron John," is the tale of a shaggy wild-man, a ball, a key, and a boy who becomes a man. Tonight, we're gonna take a look at the Grimm brothers' tale, and the movement started by and, mainly for, the baby-boomers, and how it inspired a Gen-X suburban kid to explore the wild-man in himself. 00:59:00Woodwose Radionoiron john,MEN'S MOVEMENT,fairy talesLooking at the Grimm fairy-tale, the mythopoetic men's movement, and more.Fraternitas - Scouting for Boyshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/03/19/fraternitas--scouting-for-boysFunhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/03/19/fraternitas--scouting-for-boys/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/03/19/fraternitas--scouting-for-boysSun, 19 Mar 2017 19:00:00 GMTFraternitas - Scouting for Boys2017 marks the 110th anniversary of the camp at Brownsea Island, UK, whence began a global movement of character-training and skills-development for boys and young men. We'll even consider the pros and cons of co-ed scouting. 00:59:00Woodwose Radionoboyhood, scouting, character, discipline, brotherhoodToday, we look at scouting (and similar youth movements) for boys.Virtus: Toward Manliness and Excellencehttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/03/05/virtus-toward-manliness-and-excellenceSelf Helphttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/03/05/virtus-toward-manliness-and-excellence/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/03/05/virtus-toward-manliness-and-excellenceSun, 05 Mar 2017 20:00:00 GMTVirtus: Toward Manliness and ExcellenceDig within. Within is the wellspring of Good; and it is always ready to bubble up, if you just dig.(Marcus Aurelius) Generations of men admired the manly and the excellent, and sought to cultivate in themselves what was regarded as good. From elder members of their own families, and from unrelated mentors, boys and young men learned what it meant to be a man, and learned what it was to be a responsible citizen. Some fifty years have passed since the planting of seeds in the soil of society, from which wild and tangled vines of misandry have grown. What were once the strongholds of masculine virtue and fellowhip have given way to programmes which treat boys, as Chrstina Hoff Sommers puts it, "like defective girls." Yet, in response to the onslaught,. or perhaps in spite of it, there are men out there who are seeking to reclaim the virtues in themselves, and to cultivate them in the young. This afternoon, Woodwose Radio takes a look at many ways in which men have defined manliness and excellence, ranging from Classical thinkers, to modern-day men. 00:48:00Woodwose RadionoManhood, masculinity, personal excellence, virtue, characterToday, we'll examine masculine virtues as defined by varied traditions.Mysteria: Investigating the Male Mysterieshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/02/02/mysteria-investigating-the-male-mysteriesSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/02/02/mysteria-investigating-the-male-mysteries/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2017/02/02/mysteria-investigating-the-male-mysteriesThu, 02 Feb 2017 04:00:00 GMTMysteria: Investigating the Male MysteriesTonight, we'll take a look at a subject about which there has been little written, and which I believe bears investigation: the pagan Male Mysteries. You can find all the shows there that I've deleted off BTR, including all the episodes of Tarot Talk and Magical Musings. 2017 will be a new beginning for WR, in that we'll be returning to my original plans for the series. The shows will be looking at European myths, legends, and fairy-tales, their symbolism, and their importance to men and boys in the present culture. The idea is to provide resources for pagan men, mythopoetically-leaning seekers, single men, and fathers of sons, for a revival of the male spirit and virtue. Potential listeners should be forewarned that I'm not a feminist, and I make no apologies for it; in my opinion, identifying as a "pagan" doesn't automatically imply a Leftist political stance, and to make such an assumption smacks of Fundamentalism. Join me for a brief introduction to my point-of-view and a rough map of the journey we'll be taking this year. 00:04:00Woodwose RadionoNew Year, Fresh StartOak-Wisdom: An Introduction to Druidry/Druidismhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2013/04/03/oak-wisdom-an-introduction-to-druidrydruidismSpiritualityhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2013/04/03/oak-wisdom-an-introduction-to-druidrydruidism/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/labyrinth/2013/04/03/oak-wisdom-an-introduction-to-druidrydruidismWed, 03 Apr 2013 04:00:00 GMTOak-Wisdom: An Introduction to Druidry/DruidismAsk a thousand Druids, "What is Druidism?" and you'll get a thousand different answers...
