• Half of African-American women say they are just gettingby or struggling. Forty-one percent have household incomes of less than $30,000,compared with 33 percent of all women.
• Two out of three African-American women are solely responsible for theirfamily's financial planning. African- American women are more likely to besolely responsible for their household finances in part because they are lesslikely to be married (54 percent of all women were married compared with 28percent of African-American women).
• Only 41 percent of African-American women own their homes compared with 66percent of all women. Most would like to own their own homes, but often don'tknow where to start.
• Forty-five percent of African-American women have children under age eighteenliving in their household. Of those women, 42 percent are single mothers.

I don’t know if any of you saw the movie “The Antwone Fisher Story”? For me anything with Denzel Washington in it, is a must see –lol. Anyway, there is a scene when Antowne goes back to his foster mother’s home and demands information about his real family. The foster mother, who mistreated him as a child acts as if she doesn’t know any of his bio-family’s information.
Antwone (now a strong military man in his uniform) J say, “I’m still standing, I’m still strong.” Reminding his foster mother that although she mistreated him, he survived against all odds.
If you’re reading this Bulletin/Blog you are still standing and still strong. So don’t take this day for granted. Write down the things you’re grateful for. Look back on the positive people in your life. Forgive those that have hurt you in th past and rejoice in the fact that you are still here!
