WomenCount is a non-profit political organization that gives women of all generations and backgrounds from around the United States a powerful voice in the political process. We want to bring to light women candidates from across the country and help inspire more women to run for office and bring the number of women holding political office at every level to an all-time high. Our other mission is to help enact a Presidential Commission on Women. We currently have legislation in the House thanks to Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Ca). We are looking for all women to join the cause and help ensure that this legislation passes and the Commission becomes a reality, creating a new foundation for the next generation of women.

    California Assemblymember, Joan Buchanan is the only female Democrat in the crowded special election for Ellen Tauscher's Congressional Seat in California's 10th Congressional district. By the age of 30 she had become one of the fastest rising women at Delta Dental as Director of Commercial Operations. She also spent years on the San Ramon Valley School Board where she San Ramon Valley School Board where she took on a $7 million dollar budget deficit. The San Ramon Valley School District now ranks among the top 5% of all school districts in California. Joan left the School Board and district with a rainy day fund of over $11 million.     WomenCount Radio Talks to Congresswoman Judy Chu

    For the past 23 years, Dr. Chu has represented California's San Gabriel Valley as a local School Board member, Mayor and City Council member, State Assembly Member, as a member of the California State Board of Equalization and now, as the Representative for the 32nd U.S. Congressional District. U.S. House of Representatives, 2009 Dr. Chu was sworn in as the Representative for the 32nd Congressional District, which stretches from East Los Angeles to Covina through the southern San Gabriel Valley, on July 16, 2009. She replaced Hilda Solis, who stepped down from her seat after being appointed Secretary of Labor by President Obama.
