Bernard is an American journalist, political analyst, author, and President and CEO of the conservative Independent Women's Forum. Bernard graduated from Howard University with a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy. She has a J.D. degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, and was a partner at the lobbyist and law firm Patton Boggs. In 2000, she was a member of the Bush-Cheney Presidential Inaugural Committee. She was the chair for the District of Columbia's Redevelopment Land Agency. Bernard is a political and legal analyst for MSNBC, and is frequently a panelist on the The McLaughlin Group and The Chris Matthews Show. In 2007, Bernard authored Women’s Progress: How Women Are Wealthier, Healthier, and More Independent Than Ever Before. She is also a Sunday columnist for The Washington Examiner. Also, Bernard is a regular guest host of CBS radio's The Big Talker on Philadelphia's WPHT, and is a political commentator for The Hill's Congress Blog. Bernard is a contributing author to the National Urban League's State of Black America and Lifetime Network's Secrets of Powerful Women: 25 Successful American Politicians Tell How They Got Where They Are - And What It's Like. In 2009, Bernard created, co-produced and hosted IWF's historic television program, About Our Children, featuring Bill Cosby. The program, which explored poverty and education reform, aired on MSNBC on September 20, 2009.
