Business Women of Florida growing and nurturing professionals one woman at a time

Born in Germany, Morena Siewert came to the US in 1975 as a sixteen year old. Her first marriage of 13 years produced two wonderful children. Until her mid-thirties, she considered her husband, children and household duties as her career. Although she steadily assisted in her husband's various business ventures, she never gave herself much credit for her professional accomplishments. Once divorced, she realized that she had indeed actively participated in building, and making the family business successful.
The challenge was to translate this background into measurable, professional experience. She vacillated between Healthcare and Linguistics for the next decade, all the while exploring, but not committing to either. While studying for her RN degree and excellent opportunity to use her foreign language skills came along. Therefore, she dropped out of school and pursued a career with an international shipping company, representing US Government accounts in a global, multi-lingual setting. Single again after two more marriages she accepted a promotion to the corporate offices in Fort Lauderdale area and moved away from Tampa.
Within less than a year, her position was eliminated in 2008 due to fierce industry competition, as well as the economic downturn. Unemployed, with no family and a mere handful of former colleagues who turned into loyal friends, she embarked on what turned out to be the most blissful, all be it jobless summer of her life. She explored this tropical, vibrant, yet casual new city and her options for the next move. Unemployment Benefits and her savings supported Morena for this "year of living dangerously".
Grateful for this peaceful time; she afforded herself to ponder the past, to live each moment in the present with childlike joy, and to map out her future. Having had sufficient time to replenish her energies, she decided to return to Healthcare, and is now once again enrolled in the RN program. Within 18 months, Morena expects to be employed in the recession proof Healthcare field. Morena is a Change Thriver. She turned the change which was imposed on her, into a new life entirely within her control.
