A New Attack on Contraception and Abortion

In an eleventh-hour attack on women’s health, the Bush administration plans to propose a damaging rule that threatens women’s access to reproductive health services and information, including some of the most commonly used forms of birth control. The planned rule would allow covered doctors, nurses, and other health care providers to simply refuse to perform any health care service they deem morally objectionable — no matter how central to their job or to the health of the woman needing these services. The National Women’s Law Center is launching a vigorous campaign to protect women’s health, and we need your help. You can start by urging your Members of Congress to take action to stop the Bush administration from issuing this proposed rule.

Rally for Pay Equity

Join Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Lilly Ledbetter, BPW/USA and other pay equity activists at a rally to demand passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.

When:   Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM EST

Where:  The corner of Constitution Ave and Delaware Ave NE, Washington, DC (across from the Russell Senate Office Building) - also known as the "Senate Swamp." The closest Metro stations are Union Station and Capitol South. Map and directions.

Speakers Include:  Lilly Ledbetter, plaintiff in Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Members of Congress and U.S. Senators.
