    wellness starts with mindfulness

Hello everyone... Today is Wednesday, April 22, 2009 3:35:26 PM

have you ever wondered how to connect the wellness dots? well today we are going   to talk about wellness 101. Wellness first of all is a widescope of information, and headings. This is the confusion factor, you could say. Wellness starts from within, knowing, feeling wanting, and choosing to change your life, and the way you feel. Is wellness a panoply of things yes it is. Wellness is balance to the best of our ability to achieve it. One of the first things I tell my clients to begin with is...what are you trying to achieve, weight loss, more energy, spiritual discernment, what is it you want. This begins the dialogue, and the journey. The problem most of us have when delving into a new arena is the "wow...I can't decipher the whole of it". Well no one can, you start with one area of your life, and then move SLOWLY through the process. Diet is generally where my clients begin. Food is so integral to wellness,I can't emphasize that enough. Not the I can't eat icecream, or sweets anymore theology, that doesn't work. We are lover's of food at least most of us, and we should be. Life revolves around eating for energy, and pleasure. Trying to eradicate sweets, and high fat foods completely is ridiculous, come on that is a recipe for disaster. You start any new process, by being mindful of what you want to achieve, and most importantly by choosing your battles. Don't even think about cutting a food group from your diet, it sets you up for failure. And, it doesn't create wellness at all, it simply means you are white-knuckling your way through life...uh, no thanks. What you want,or what most of my clients want is to feel well, look well, and be well. It is not rocket science, why do we complicate things. Anyway onward...you know the drill eat foods that are "whole" in otherwords not man made. Fresh food, veggies, especially the green ones packed full of energy enhancing anti-oxidants, and phytonutrients. Without getting to scientific, lets focus on one day at a time living. We are constantly bombarded with information via the internet, TV, and so on. Stop listening to the news, and other negative information it detracts from wellness, and actually causes stress, and feelings of fear. So stop funneling bad information into your being. This is one way to begin, you see friends it is not about what everyone else thinks you should do, or think, or be. It is about your personal best and achieving sensible, realistic goals. Eat food that brings health, it is so simple. Don't over think it. Checks, and balances, I am always preaching this. You can't live on cake, and pizza, not to hard to figure that out. On the other hand why would we want to live without eating those foods for ever, not necessary. Being mindful of the again I emphasize realistic goals about the food you eat is the best place to begin because the way you feel is directly related to what you eat. Be mindful realistic, and ignore the Hollywood ridiculosness, and you will be one step closer t achieving wellness, stay tuned for the next segment on the continuum that is mindful wellness.
