After the presents have been opened on Christmas Day, the long lines for purchases are replaced with return lines. Nevertheless it's in the true spirit of giving that we are joined by Pamela Mac Phee, a woman who gave the ultimate gift of a child to her cousin Henry and his wife Lauren after learning that Lauren would be unable to carry a pregnancy due to cancer radiation treatments. So following the completion of all the necessary evaluations, doctors performed an embryo transfer and she successfully carried a surrogate pregnancy to term, delivering a baby girl to Henry and Lauren in May of 2001. Pamela has documented her story in her book DELIVERING HOPE: The Extraordinary Journey of a Surrogate Mom. There are more than 7 million infertile women in the U.S. and this is not only a heartwarming story of overcoming infertility, but it is also a story of family, of hope, and the true joy of giving generously.
