Marjani Hawkins has been writing since she was 12 years old. Her first printed work was featured in the high school newspaper, The Desert Howl from Agua Fria High School in Avondale, AZ (I graduated in 2009). The next endeavor was writing as an Opinion’s Columnist for her college newspaper, The Lumberjack at Northern Arizona University from 2009-2010.

Marjani currently attend Arizona State University as a Journalism major and photography minor. During 2012, she wrote her first full length manuscript, (tentatively titled The Rose from Spanish Harlem) which is a fictional, age-gap lesbian romance between two co-workers. The manuscript is approximately 61,200 words (or 215 pages). Currently, it is being edited by her peers as well as being reviewed by freelance editors –with the goal of eventually being printed, then published either through self-publishing or sending out the document to professional publishers.

Aside from writing, photography has been a hobby of Marjani since her freshman year in high school. Her area of strength and interest lies in portraiture – She also take snapshots, sky photos and stills. In the summer of 2012 She started a Facebook page to promote herself as a photographer, and begin to establish her talent as a business. Marjani is also a contributing writer/photographer for Hard Candy Magazine at ASU {a biannual feminism ‘zine’}, She is largely considered a freelancer.
