    Whippet Rescue

Whippet Rescue.  You don't hear much about it compared to some of the more popular rescues out there like Beagle Rescue, or Boxer Rescue.  But don't think it isn't out there and there's any less need for donations and volunteers for it.  Whippets are a fortunate breed and that they have not been exploited as much as the Golden or Labrador Retriever for example.  The puppy mills don't crank out as many whippets as the dogs listed on the Top 10 List of the most popular dog breeds.  As a result, you don't see as many genetic issues or whippets in the dog pounds and shelters.

However, there are whippets out there that are homeless.  They may be lost or their owners dumped them, or they were taken from a puppy mill.   There are many reasons why a whippet ends up in Rescue.  But this topic isn't about why.  It's about taking care of these sweeties once they get into Rescue.  It's about the people who volunteer their time, homes, expense and hearts to these sweet dogs.  The dogs that have been hit by cars or sick with disease or malnourished.  These volunteers are not wealthy people.  They are people like you and I who love animals and can't stand to see a sweet whippet in need.

Whippet Rescue does a lot for a dog.  They take it in, have it vet checked, place it in a foster home, treat it for illness or injury (sometimes costing thousands of dollars), work on behaviorial issues, screen potential adopters and so much more.

WhippetTalk.com is pleased to announce that it is holding it's second annual fundraiser to help Whippet Rescue.  We are holding auctions and raffle through the month of March to raise the funds.  Won't you consider a donation or bid on an item for sale to help Rescue?  At the very least, if you can't help out at this time, take a moment to write a note to Whippet Rescue and thank them for all they do to keep our whippies safe and comfortable.
