"LEFT BEHIND" SERIES ~ WHEN WILL THE WORLD END?

  Broadcast in Entertainment

Call in to speak with the host

We are honored to have Jerry B. Jenkins, Co-Author of the "Left Behind" Series with us for an interview.  Jerry and his partner, Tim LaHaye, wrote a series of extremely controversial fictional novels beginning in 1995.  The series consisted of 16 best selling novels; and, were first published in 1995-2007 by Tyndale House (a firm with a history of interest in dispensationalism).   Jerry Jenkins was born September 23, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  The "Left Behind" book series is this writers greatest success and is a fictional account of the end of the world - as well as the return of Jesus Christ.  In collaboration with Tim LaHaye (a minister and author from California) the huge success of the series spawned a feature length movie, Left Behind: The Movie (2000), as well as a series of children's books, "Left Behind: For Kids".  The story is based on an interpretation of Biblical prophecy (with specific direction from the books of Revelations, Daniel, Isaiah and Ezekiel); and, follows a cast of characters as they face the sudden disappearance of devout Christians and the subsequent "Great Tribulation", a period of seven years during which the "Anti-Christ" rules the earth before the return of Jesus.Jenkins is a prolific writer who has published dozens of both fiction and non-fiction books during his career.   He is the founder of the Christian Writers Guild and the owner of Jenkins Entertainment, a media company that produced the 2002 movie Hometown Legend. The "Left Behind" series has come under fire for its fundamentalist interpretation of the Book of Revelations, especially among Catholics who claim the books suggest that denomination would support the Anti-Christ.
