It is very difficult if not impossible to have an answer to prayer with secret sin in our lives. God expects transparency and a turning away from those things that do not edify Him or His kingdom. We cannot have victory with hidden sin reigning in our mortal bodies or lingering in our hearts; we must confess our sins to Him and turn away from anything that can create a stumbling block to victory. (Proverbs 28:13; Isaiah 29:15; Isaiah 30:1; Jeremiah 16:17; Luke 12:2) A quick way out of secret sin is for a revealing of hidden thoughts. We can ask God to reveal anything that may be keeping us in bondage to an illusion or in bondage to a deception we have embraced or a deception that the enemy has formed against us unaware (Psalm 19:12).
