Many preachers use the altar as a means tests for a person’s authenticity in accepting Jesus as well as a means for keeping a tally on the number of souls they have led to the Lord. I choose to agree with the words of Paul the Apostle when he stated clearly, that one man plants, another man waters and God gives the increase. As much as we would like to take all the credit for wining a soul to the Lord, we can’t; souls come to God through the sowing, the planting, the watering and the cultivation of many, many people. When we do have opportunity to “save a soul” for Jesus, basically we aren’t winning a soul to the Lord necessarily, but we are witnessing their open confession whether made at the altar of a church building or in the office closet of a business establishment. This broadcast discusses two schools of thought on the altar call and why you may or may not have to have one.
