This Thursday, August 1 at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk, well be going back into the archives for one of our favorite past episodes: Jay's chat with Erica Courtney.

About: Although she has always felt a natural attraction to beauty and luxury, Courtney would have never guessed she would end up the tastemaker and trendsetter in the jewelry business she is today. Erica began designing in 1984 with out realizing it while living in Dallas. By embellishing sunglasses and watches with Swarovski crystals and creating casual costume jewelry she loved to wear, the first Erica Courtney collection was born.

In 1989 Erica followed her heart to Los Angeles, where her inspiration blossomed and her designs focused on sterling silver jewelry with engraved love notes. Erica successfully launched the first designer sterling brand. Over time, the Erica Courtney collection evolved into fine gold and platinum gemstone jewelry, inspired by the history and glamour of Hollywood. Through the evolution of the brand, one thing never changed, Erica designs from her heart, and strives to “create jewelry that is treasured and remembered.”

Erica Courtney tirelessly travels the world to source the most precious, coveted, and unique gemstones to set in 18k gold and platinum using countless pave diamonds. Every single gem and rare Tahitian pearl is handpicked by Erica- she lets the stones and pearls “speak” to her. Courtney takes great pride in sketching every single design personally, as a one-woman design staff-dynamo, as well as having all of her creations produced locally, in Los Angeles, by a 2nd generation master artisan.
