On Thursday's, March 4th broadcast my guest is the talented photographer Kyle Cassidy, see http://kylecassidy.com. In advance of the 'Photography for Jewelers' workshop, http://whaleyworkshops.com/workshops, offered at Whaley Studios on March 19, 20 & 21st, and produced by 'Metal Clay for Metalsmiths' Kate McKinnon, Jay chats with Kyle Cassidy. Cassidy's photography has been a journey rather than a destination. He's photographed fleas and flowers, been to Egypt, photographing pot shards and bones with a team of archaeologists, photographed three presidents, the Dalai Lama, orphans living in sewers, goths, punks, & science fiction fans. His documentary photography book Armed America: Portraits of Gun Owners in Their Homes was awarded amazon.com's "Best 100 Books of 2007" and "Best 10 Art Books of 2007" medals. Most recently he worked on the big book of Who Killed Amanda Palmer with Amanda Palmer (go figure) and the wonderfully talented Neil Gaiman. His Photo-A-Week blog http://kylecassidy.com was one of the first photo blogs on the internet and now has an average of more than 150,000 visitors a week. He is currently hard at work photographing war veterans tattoos and writers and their offices in between traveling around teaching photography workshops geared towards people like Renaissance Faire costumers and … jewelry makers. Please join us for what promises to be a fun and informative program!
