A staunch believer in the importance of family, Attorney Mitchell is passionate about strengthening families by showing them ways to protect family assets and transfer wealth while minimizing tax consequences and family disruption. Some important issues that she stresses clients address through estate planning are:
•Reducing taxes on the transfer of property •Protecting minor children and elderly with regard to guardianship and assets •Making sure that trusted people are in charge of your assets •Property distribution among blended families and 2nd or 3rd marriages •Establishing powers of attorney to appoint desired person(s) to act on your behalf in the event of medical or mental incapacitation
Attorney Mitchell is a graduate of Fisk University and Columbia Law School. Though not a practicing financial advisor, Attorney Mitchell is trained as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), enabling her to fully understand the financial planning process and how estate planning fits into a comprehensive financial plan. A believer in continual education, in January 2011 and 2012 she attended the world famous Heckerling Institute in Miami, which provides advanced training for top estate planners in the country.
