L.Y. Marlow is the award-winning author of Color Me Butterfly, a poignant and endearing true story about four generations of mothers and daughters that suffered and survived 60+ years of domestic violence and abuse: the true story of her grandmother, her mother, herself, and her daughter.   Color Me Butterfly has won an unprecedented 8 awards including the most prestigious literary award, the National “Best Books” Award and has attracted the attention of mass media, stellar reviews, book clubs and readers alike. But the story does not end there. In the fall 2007, Ms. Marlow discovered that her 22 year old daughter was trapped in an abusive relationship--one in which the abuser not only tried to kill her daughter twice, but threatened the life of their baby girl named Promise. When the system failed to protect Ms. Marlow's daughter and granddaughter, she decided to turn her pain into a Promise for Change. She founded Saving Promise, a national grassroots domestic violence non-profit to strengthen domestic violence as a national priority in the same way as Breast Cancer Awareness.   In her role as author, domestic violence advocate, and keynote speaker, what has been most inspiring is Ms. Marlow’s story and timely message. Ms. Marlow has appeared on local, regional and national television and radio and has been featured in various magazines. For her untiring work, Ms. Marlow was also awarded an award by one of the highest elected officials—the Governor’s Award.   Please visit www.savingpromisecampaign.org or visit www.colormebutterfly.com to learn more about Ms. Marlow, Color Me Butterfly and Saving Promise! We are pleased to announced part of the proceeds from The Winner's Summit will be donated to Saving Promise.
