With the resignation of Rod Hoops at midterm, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors will need to appoint a new Sheriff to serve the remainder of his term.
Sheriff Hoops has recommended that the Board of Supervisors appoint his choice to be the new Sheriff.
In a Republic, all officials are to be elected by the voice of the people. The Constitution requires each state to have a republcan form of government. If the Board of Supervisors appoints someone to fill the seat, they are violating the Constitution.
