Because we possess the technology, productive power, unlimited natural resources and wealth for this to be commonsensly obtain.     In November 2006 Steve Cohen made Tennessee political history when he became the first Jewish Congressman from Tennessee...Before his current job, he served 24 years as a Tennessee State Senator...He is known as The Father of the Tennessee Lottery Scholarship Program, a program which allows millions of dollars in scholarships to be given annually to deserving graduating high school students attending college in Tennessee...Congressman Cohen, a devout music fan, was also a close friend of the late great rock-n-roll musician Warren Zevon...

    On February 27, 2007, Cohen introduced a bill in the House that apologizes for African-American slavery and the system of Jim Crow laws that persisted for 100 years after the abolition of slavery...Cohen noted that no president has officially apologized for allowing slavery...The bill had picked up thirty-six cosponsors by the end of the day...

    Cohen supports gender equality, separation of church and state, progressive taxation, medicinal use of marijuana, gun rights and capital punishment...He is one of the few representatives from the South to support gay marriage...

    Besides the Memphis Red Sox, Joe Scott also played for the Chicago American Giants, the New York Black Yankees and the Pittsburgh Crawfords during his 20-year career.

    Joe Scott was the first African American to ever play Wrigley Field in Chicago, one of Major League Baseball's greatest historic ballparks...He was a standout player and the only African American on his high school baseball team at Tilden High School in Chicago back in the 1930s...He is also only one of 20 remaining living former baseball players to play their entire careers in the legendary Negro Leagues...He is the subject of the recent Memphis Public Broadcasting Television documentary Joe Scott: Memories of the Negro Leagues...

    In this W.E. A.L.L. B.E News & Radio Exclusive, Mr. Scott will discuss his 20 year career in the Negro Leagues, what and who inspired him to play baseball, the influence of his mother on his life, his association with his lifelong mentor & friend baseball immortal Satchel Paige, his thoughts on the game today and friendship with the late great Negro Leagues Baseball ambassador and pioneer Buck O'Neil among other things...Mr. Scott is a master storyteller in a class all by himself...His enthusiasm is contagious...

    About Dr. Price

    Emmett G. Price III is quickly rising as one of the nation’s leading experts on bridging the generational divide. A well regarded musician, educator, and consultant, Emmett actively researches, lectures and writes about Black Music of the United States (African American Music) with a focus on social, political, economic, cultural and religious analysis. He is a noted print and broadcast media expert on African American Music & Culture, Hip Hop Culture and Youth Culture.

    Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Emmett received a B.A. in music from the University of California, Berkeley and both a M.A. and Ph.D. in music (ethnomusicology) from the University of Pittsburgh. Currently, he is an assistant professor of music and African American studies at Northeastern University (Boston, MA). Emmett has recently been appointed as a Research Fellow of Northeastern University’s Center for the Study of Sport in Society. During the 2004-2005 academic year, he was a research fellow of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard University.

    Renowned Portrait Artist Simmie Knox
    The First African American Commissioned To Paint The Official Portrait Of A U.S. President (Bill Clinton)







    A graduate of Tyler School of Art at Temple University (BFA, Magna Cum Laude, MFA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Simmie Knox as an artist has specialized in oil portraiture since 1981. Prior to that, he taught at various colleges, universities, and public schools in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. During the 1970's, Simmie exhibited as an abstract artist and worked for the Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C. In 1971, he participated in the Thirty-Second Biennial of Contemporary American Painting at The Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. with his abstract art.

    He turned to portraiture after years of painting a wide variety of paintings because he found that there is nothing more challenging and interesting to paint than the human face. He states "I think that a good portrait is the most difficult thing for an artist to bring off successfully. Not only must you get an accurate likeness, but you must also create a good painting. Somehow you must convey a subject's character, spirit, and personality; portrait and everything must communicate the dynamism of the subject."

    Simmie has been commissioned by private individuals, organizations, and institutions and has painted portraits of a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, a U.S. cabinet member, U.S. congressmen and state senators, a mayor of New York City, respected civic leaders, sports figures, entertainment celebrities, educators, judges, religious leaders, military officers, businessmen, and private individuals.
