I had to come back to this one because I couldn't read articles and listen to such a deep show at the same time. This was one of the best.

You know what I think is interesting? A group of kids from Chicago State's Upward Bound visited the Chicago Defender, and one girl said the newspaper was racist for using the word "Negro" in an older version of the paper. She had no idea about the history of the use of negro, colored, Black, etc. She felt that negro was equal to nigger. I was astounded at how younger people didn't know the history of the word. This is exactly why I don't want the word to die. We need it to stay alive,

...arrested for protesting against her husband's murder. Crazy!) But again, 4 hours is a small amount to cover so many issues. Not even Ron's show can cover every single issue in the Black community. That's why there are so many radio sessions.

I disagree about the versatility on CNN's "Black in America." CNN covered single mothers, drop-out teenagers, black men and arrest rates, mothers' reactions to their children dying. The special was 2-hours and 2 parts. CNN can't cover every single thing in the Black community in 4 hours. We all have access to YouTube. If we feel like CNN left something out, why not just create your own version? (I would've liked to see Sean Bell's wife on there though, especially considering she was ar

Saying "nigga" is different than "nigger" makes about as much since as saying "bitch" is different than "biotch." Making it a slang term doesn't take away from the history of it. We keep saying the word is not important. If it's not, then why do rappers keep using it? Thesauruses were made for a reason!

"Nigger" is a racist term meant to insult a race of people. When I was in high school, I tried to say it had a different meaning. As I grew older and read more about the history, I'm now ashamed that I used to think it had a different meaning. It's an insult. Period. I don't respect Nas for making an album called that, and I refuse to buy it or support him again.

That was before hip hop sold out and sold their soul to the corporate world. Now it is all about money, not building community or expressing knowledge to the youth. Corporate america does not care about the community. They care about money period

you should say SOME white people. You can not refer to just white people.

This is a very uncomfortable conversation if you are not of color. It seems that the panel thinks all whites are racist, or that we all use the n word and that is not really true.

Chances are, if you are being called a slang term for your race, it is for reason that reflects character...work on yourself and who you are, and dont worry about what you are called. If we could all work towards this, eventually, with TIME, these words would be meaningless.

I believe I understand the point Fame is making. As time goes on, history evolves. Yes, as of right now most African Americans see the "N word" as offensive...Its a term most dare not even speak. However, eventually we as a community of ALL races work to come together and use the word to a benefit.Instead of seeing it as an offensive word, each race needs to use their given names as a motivation. Use it as a opportunity to prove everyone else wrong. Chances are if you are being called
