Emerging from the musical hotbed of Dayton, the group was originally dubbed the Ohio Untouchables. Beginning in the late '60s as a Funk group, the Ohio Players found their hot and nasty niche in the early '70s. Their brand of deep Funk, rich with horns and falsetto choruses, really blew up when they switched to Mercury Records in the mid-1970s. Quirky arrangements like "Funky Worm," "Skin Tight," and "Love Rollercoaster" were laced with blues and street-funk attitude. With their slinky, horn-powered grooves, impeccable musicianship, and eye-popping album covers, the Ohio Players were among the top funk bands of the mid-'70s. The group is still performing world-wide and have just completed their latest CD project. Join D.A. Williams and take a ride on the “Love Rollercoaster”.
