Watching Washington

This station is dedicated to watching the newly elected administration as well as the strengthened Democratic Senate and Houses policy decisions. Keeping an eye on our personal rights and liberties, we will examine and discuss the ramifications of the choices made today.

    Date / Time:

Day Three After Election of Barack Obama

So today I have heard rumblings of reinstitution the regulation known as "Fairness in Broadcasting Act of 1993"

Sounds good right? Fair is good, yeah?

    Nope.

What this regulation does is "afford reasonable opportunity for the discussion of conflicting views of public importance". It is intended to promote "fairness" by requiring that media under the FCC govern is subject to violations if it does not provide the other side of the argument. So, if in my previous blog the Fairness Doctrine was in effect, I would have to find someone that was anti-gun and/or present the facts myself on that argument as well. It's not something I am versed in.

We will keep an eye out for this "regulation" and it implementation, with emphasis on it's effects on:
    1. Mass Media. All the "Big" media names, alphabet channels, etc.
    2. Talk Radio. Since this is primarily conservative, it should serve as a litmus test for the "regulation" bias.
    3. Blog Talk Radio. That's right, this medium here. Will it affect our community? How many shows will go under because they couldn't or wouldn't get a host or what it takes to satisfy the latest incarnation of this "regulation"?

We will be discussing this on the Friday show as well.

    Ever Vigilant,
    W.W.

  • Date / Time:

    Inauguration a bit early...

The inauguration of this station is today, and from today we will keep an eye on what's going on in Washington from a working man point of view. This show is party neutral; the shows host is an independent as are most of the contributors.

We welcome all schools of thought so long as they are dictated by logic and sensibility.

Of great interest to the channel is the effect of this president-elect and increasingly left-leaning Congress on the newly decided District of Columbia v. Heller which thankfully set a Supreme Court precedent that should help prevent further erosion and attacks on our Second Amendment rights.

Barrack Obamas votes show that he has one of, if not the most, anti-gun record in the Senate. Both of them, Illinois and U.S.

Of great note are the ways that this president-elect chooses to circumvent our rights. One cunning attempt to conceal bans in legislation is the bill proposed by Obama to ban gun stores within 5 miles of a school or park. Excuse me?

Think about what that does, and push back that nagging memory of seeing this before; I'll cover that in a minute.

It effectively eliminates the ability to buy a gun. Can you go 5 miles without seeing a school or park of some sort? And why stop there? Why not throw in churches as well, like they do with alcohol?

This is nothing more than a way to shut down a variety of business, from Wal-mart selling shotguns, to the small and various pawn shops that do pretty damn good selling weapons to law-abiding citizens. It's a direct attack to our established RIGHT to own a firearm. If we cannot buy the guns, we won't own them. Criminals don't care, they will get their guns one way or another.

We will further chronicle not only this president-elect's moves in the coming administration, but his past as well, for it dictates our future.
