We are in the middle of a parenthetical portion of the Book of Revelation. God is describing a pause in the action of the Great Tribulation as He takes care of some heavenly business. The 11th chapter is one of the more difficult chapters to interpret in the Book of Revelation.

There are two facts to keep in mind as we look at these verses. We are standing on Jewish ground – The images and words are Jewish in nature. We are dealing with end-time events – The Book of Revelation details future events.

Last week (Rev. 11:1, 2) we discussed that a new Jewish temple is in the preparation stages of being built in Jerusalem. The Jewish nation will consecrate a priesthood and they will offer animal sacrifices as dictated in Jewish Law. They will worship God under the old covenant, not recognizing that the Lord Jesus Christ shed His divine blood once for all to save the souls of lost humanity.

C. Our next vision is the two witnesses. God sends two special ambassadors from Heaven to preach the Gospel message to the people of Jerusalem. It is the two heavenly visitors and their ministry we want to deal with today. I want share some insights from the passage concerning God’s Two Mighty Witnesses.
