Changed By The Word: An Evening With Dr. James Merritt

Dr. James Merritt was born December 22, 1952 in Gainesville, Georgia and is married to the former Teresa Ovaline York of Mt. Airy, Georgia.  The Merritts have three children: James Gregory, Jr., born August 13, 1979, Jonathan Michael, born August 4, 1982, and Joshua Lee, born December 26, 1985.  They have one grandson and one granddaughter born to James, Jr. and Natalie Merritt:  Harper William and Pressley Rae.

Dr. Merritt has served as senior pastor of Cross Pointe Church since May, 2003.  Cross Pointe is located in metropolitan Atlanta at 1800 Satellite Boulevard in Duluth, Georgia. Dr. Merritt has served two terms as the President of the Southern Baptist Convention in 2001 and 2002.

Dr. Merritt is the author of various books and airs a weekly television broadcast, Touching Lives which is a nationwide television ministry, which broadcasts in all 50 states and 122 countries around the world via the Trinity Broadcast Network, The Church Channel, and The Liberty Channel.
