  Who is Braxton Moore?

  Braxton is a mentally challenged child who is drowning in a quagmire of legal proceedings, both in the juvenile courts and the adult courts.
  
  His story began last March, when he was just 13. He was arrested with at least four older teenagers (16, 17, and 18 years of age) for a series of robberies. There are indications that someone in the juvenile system had recognized Braxton's mental and emotional infirmaties, and had even prescribed medication for him. Nevertheless, he was soon transferred with the older teens to the adult criminal justice system, where his condition was largely ignored.
  
  Learning of his case on WDIA, Chaplain Novella Smith Arnold took up Braxton's cause. She battled for six months to get attention to his plight, and to get him evaluated again. Eventually he was returned to the juvenile system where is still incarcerated.
  
  Q. How is Braxton Moore different from any other mentally challenged person who commits, or is involved in committing, a crime?
  
  A. Braxton functions at the 7 year old level. He lacks the ability to form the requisite intent to commit a crime. Braxton was found incompetent to stand trial. He is a child being swallowed up in the world of adult crime and violence.
  
  Q. Did Braxton Moore injure anybody?
  
  A. No.
  

  How can I help?

  There are several ways you can help.
  
  1) Monetary donations through this site. The donations will be used for litigation expenses, which include court filing fees, court reporter fees, transcript fees, expert witness fees, etc.
  
  2) Get the word out. Email this site's information and URL to everyone on your contact lists and encourage them to donate.
  
  3) If you have expertise in any areas that you believe would be helpful, and are willing to donate your time, let us know.
