There have been many dystopian visions of a future where people in society are controlled by an all reaching government. Huxley and Orwell have been the authors of two of the most prolific premonitions, but there have been others.
What we are currently experiencing in our present, seems to us to be the perfect nightmarish balance of both of these predictions. We have the panopticon of surveillace along with a brutal, overreaching police force and out of control intellegence and military apparatus, and the pharmacologically and culturally induced complacency and obedience that Huxley surmised.
From the arm of that beast that is the military police industrial complex,we see the beginnings of the totalitarian regime that both of these visionaries dreamed of.
Five people in SF are taking a stand against the police force there and the insititutional racism embedded in it's ranks. They embarked on a 17 day hunger strike until they were hospitalized.
