Hey govols817 I'm a fellow rivals guy (not a poster though.) But I'm a former UT student, an avid vols fan, and a sports journo major. I will be listening and wondered if it wouldn't be too much to ask if you repped my new sports site at www.freewebs.com/bigguysports and my new show at www.btr.com/bigguysports. If not I do understand, but if you could I would really appreciate. Thank you and have a great show.

    Episode 6 Preview

After a week off, VSPN returns New Year's Day.

So far, I have not been able to confirm Arian Foster as a guest this week.  I hope to do so in the next couple of days, if not, it may have to be next week.

For the show Thursday, I'll be doing a bowl review of the games taken place so far.  I'll be looking to see what my record is with the picks I made on the show against the spread.  I think I'm pretty even, but we'll see.

We'll be talking about some of the new recruits that have come up interested in the Vols.  We will also discuss the developments that have taken place with the staff.

We will discuss the basketball team's last game and upcoming game at Kansas on Saturday.  Hopefully by the show, we'll have a solid word on Wayne Chism and will know that he's OK for sure.

Time permitting, I think I'd also like to do a list of the 5 best and 5 worst moments of the year in UT Sports.  Along with that, I'm a list freak, so I'm going to look at some of the "Top moments" lists from around sports and probably talk about those.  Pretty much a year in review segment.  It's been an eventful year so I think it'll be fun to briefly talk about it.

I am also planning on doing a segment on the NFL Playoffs.  Previewing the games that are set and looking at possible matchups.

As always, I welcome anyone who wants to call and talk.  I look forward to seeing the usual suspects in the chat room and hopefully some new people to get good conversation going.   I have extended an invitation to NYC to join me to talk about the recruits and am waiting on a response.  You guys will know when I do.

    Thanks as always for listening.

VSPN Future Guest Arian Foster Announcement

Guys, I got an unbelievably exciting email today that Arian Foster is willing to join me for a segment on the show. I can't tell you how exciting it is for me to have a chance to interview him and give our listeners a chance to ask Arian questions.

I do not have a confirmed date, but I believe it to be in the next couple of weeks. I am still working on that.

As I've said before guys, I try and do whatever I can to make this entertaining for you guys and something you want to listen to. Arian is being very gracious in joining us, so for him, I want to make sure something is very clear. Most of the audience questions will be taken from the chat box. I will filter those that should and shouldn't be asked. If you wish to call the show and speak to Arian, you will have to email me at GoVols817@yahoo.com and we can talk privately to ensure this is going to be the best experience for him as possible.

This conversation/interview is going to center around Arian's experience at UT, what he's looking forward to in his career and so on. This will be a positive interview as I'm a fan of his and will not have this turn into anything else.

I hope you'll all stay tuned for the confirmed date and will join us as we talk to and have a chance to say goodbye to the #2 rusher of all time at UT, Arian Foster.

    Merry Christmas

I wanted take a minute and say thanks to all the listeners and callers for the show last night.  We had some very good discussion on what I wanted to make the focal point of this show, and that's the treatment of black coaches in college football.  1757 and Blur both had some good insight to add to the subject and we all agreed that the more we force this into the open, the more likely we are to create awareness and bring this out where there can be a resolution.

I also wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone.  We'll be doing our next show New Year's night, reviewing all the bowl games to that point and anything else we've got to talk about.  I'm taking Christmas day off and hope everyone enjoys the holidays.

    5th Show Preview

We will be doing our 5th show this Thursday night at 9PM.  As of now, I don't have any guests booked for the show and am most likely going to do a shorter, 1 hour show.

I'll be talking about all Tennessee related news involving Kiffin's recruiting stories to staff updates to reviews and previews of Tennessee basketball, just like I always do.

I'm also going to have a segment on Bowl Previews.  I think it'll be neat to go through the bowl games and pick them, straight up and against the spread, b/c I know I have listeners for every show and that'll be something you guys can hold against me when we come back! I'll do a short preview for the games we/most of us care about and just pick the ones that aren't as "interesting" for us.

For this week's sound off, I am going to be doing more of a discussion type segment if I can get some help with it.  I would like to have a segment on black coaches in college football.  The Barkley comments sparked a lot of conversation, and while he may have been a little off, I feel like this is a topic with two sides that both have some strong points.  I think this is a good topic that we can talk about w/o having any issues and would like to ask anyone who wants to volunteer to come on the show and be a "panel guest" for this part of the show.  It could go for 5 minutes, it could go for 30.  I think this is a topic that needs to be discussed and the more it is, the closer we'll get to a resolution.  If you are interested in being part of the panel discussion, please email me at govols817@yahoo.com.  You can stay anonymous if you like.

Lastly, we'll be talking about national recruiting, national sports news including college football, basketball, NFL and anything else that is newsworthy.

I hope to see as many of you as possible for the show.  I hope to have good involvement from the audience and make this a good, entertaining show where a lot of good information and viewpoints get discussed.

    4th Show Preview

Last show we had a couple of great guests in Ryan Abraham from USCfootball.com and NYCVOL.  This week we welcome a new guest to the fold, OrangeBlur from TNVarsity.com.

We will be discussing the week's events for Lane Kiffin and previewing the SEC/Big East challenge and UT's game vs Temple.

I am currently pursuing an additional guest for the show and will update you guys as soon as I have it.  I appreciate everyone that tuned in last week and hope we continue to grow the audience.  The show has been fun so far and I look forward to keeping it going.
