Too often today we hear about violence, but do you ever notice, what's not spoken is who is usually the perpetrator of the violence.  Environmentalist and radical feminist, otherwise knowsn as Radical Eco-Feminist, Elaine Charkowski will chat with me tonight about the importance of naming male violence, why that's currently taboo and why it is so important that we do it anyway.  As she says rather urgently - "It's the vomit on the carpet that everyone steps around and ignores!"   In light of the current heat the NFL is taking for trying to sweep away their domestic violence problem, this is a timely subject that just may be changing.  We'll discuss the basic ethic of patriarchy which is "might makes right" and how language isused to hide and sanctify the brute force of patriarchy.  We'll delve into malespeak as women's "second language"  and the "absent referent".  You'll hear about the passive voice vs. the active voice, sex neutral terms, erasing and/or watering down women's words, and how important it is to give words the power to act as if they were physical beings.  You will not be the same after this show - I promise!
