As an occupational therapist, Marlene Suliteanu worked in varied medical settings for more than 40 years. Her specialized training in (HANDLE®) the Holistic Approach to NeuroDevelopment and Learning Efficiency (HANDLE®) began in 2000. She was certified as a HANDLE Practitioner in ’01 and as a HANDLE Instructor in ’03. The brain has no interface with the world except through the body: all its information comes from the body and all its responses are conveyed through the body – yet our culture trains us that our brains know best. So we’re also trained that “mind over matter” means we should ignore signals of distress. But when irregularities in the systems that send signals to our brain provide unreliable input, two things happen: we experience internal distress and we behave in unexpected ways to demands to perform. The Holistic Approach to NeuroDevelopment and Learning Efficiency (HANDLE®) recognizes how our behaviors “speak” our bodies’ priorities.
