Tomás was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. He began writing verse soon after graduating with a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington. Tomás is  a retired Civil Rights attorney in San Diego, California, world traveler, activist, teacher and lecturer. His poetry is his life in verse. Sojourn on the Bohemian Highway, published by Poetic Matrix Press, is Tomás’ most recent volume of prose/poetry. Others include: Winds of Change/ Vientos de Cambio, a bilingual book of verse, Yazoo City Blues, Time of the Poet,  Two Races, One Face, with John Peterson, Dark Symphony in Duet with the late Sarah Fabio.  He has performed his poetry with Jazz greats Charles McPherson, cousin Clark Gayton and Daniel Jackson among others. He has taught verse writing at the San Diego Writing Center, the University of California San Diego Crafts Center, the Girl’s Rehabilitation Facility and the Juvenile Hall in San Diego.  He initiated and led the poetry workshop at D.G. Wills bookstore in La Jolla, California and co-founded San Diego Poets’ Press.  He continues to write and share his verse with the world and has just published his memoir, Long Journey Home, on Amazon Kindle.
