A Special Area Within the Space Life Sciences
 
Space life scientists also would like to learn
how space flight and microgravity affect the
nervous system. This area of research is known
as space neuroscience.
 
The study of the ways in which the
body’s brain, spinal cord, and network
of nerves control the activities of animals
and humans is called neuroscience.
 
A particular focus of space life sciences research
is seeking answers to questions about changes
that occur in the human body when it is
launched from Earth’s surface, remains in the
microgravity environment of space, and then
returns to Earth.
