    Blogcasting instead of broadcasting show

    A rainy night in Georgia...
Rolled out with the Wii to the community center and arrived about 6:30 p.m.

Few people playing ping pong. Set up Wii. A few people came to play and two actually played most of the evening. They were 16 years old and had never experienced the Wii before. They played Wii Fit the whole night. Started with the bubble in balance games, then went to ski slalom, then hula hoop, then soccer heading, and other games. They got exhausted and then nobody really had the energy to do much more.

So, home by 8:30 p.m. Great introducing yet some more young people to exercising for fun and fitness! Tomorrow at 11 a.m. will be back at the Community Center demo-ing the Wii to a group of Somalian elders. Will keep ya posted. Probably will not be back to broadcast this week. So, keep reading this blog!

Hey, you should go visit www.BOKsystems.com. The book is well-written and I find it interesting. The website has some fantastic information presented in an entertaining and easily understandable fashion. Check out the video on how the body and mind work. So much info on this website and you can set up your own personal profile for free. Still reading but will be previewing the book before interviewing Dr. Moore on Virtual Fitness FABB August 12.

Hear Penda tonight and blogging Thursday instead of blawking live this morning

Thursday, 6:42 a.m. Today I'm continuing my vacation from the live broadcast. Chilling and organizing for next week's shows.

Tonight, though, if you just need your Goddess fix, you can listen to me LIVE on Kids Under Construction at 8:00 p.m.

Wii Wednesday last night. Me, Gato, Rick and Wizard played some fierce tennis. I tell ya, we are so good! Since I was sitting on the ball while playing, my core got a great workout! It is all about the core after all. Rick has purchased her Wii recently and I can see their are changes to the Wii Sports software. Perhaps I'll call Nintendo and inquire about getting an updated disc. Especially for the replay of knockouts in boxing.

With the Wii Fit, I've discovered numerous ways to sit on the ball and perform the exercises. It's not easy and if you don't have a good sense of balance, I'd start on a stable chair with my feet resting on the balance board. I'm loving seated yoga though. Focusing on getting one part right at a time.

Looking to continue recording the rest of Iwata Asks Wii Fit so stay tuned...

Blogging instead of Blawking today, Tuesday, July 22, 2008

    Good morning all,

It's 6:17 am and I've decided that today I will talk to you via this blog.

Tomorrow two of my daughters return to FL where they live, so today we're just hanging out with their big sister who lives here, and me and Killian. Life is good. The National Black Arts Festival is in town (ATL, GA) and we're thinking about hanging at the Underground.

The end of training for the boys was last Thursday. I've been basking in this singular accomplishment since. Think about it; for five hours a day, four days a week, children were exercising! I'd like to see one adult who would do this? Anyone?

Of course, much more was happening at the training. Bonds appeared, skills, much improved, BMI was taken and duly noted. The question is, do I delete their profiles from the balance board? How far did they get opening the exercises? I'll have to get that info.

So, I'm taking a little hiatus from the radio, starting other radio shows! (BTR is totally addicting, just like Wii!), preparing for an interview on BTR  (Thursday, with Kimberly Nix at 8 p.m., Kids Under Construction) and reading Dr. Robert J. Moore III's book: Body of Knowledge: The Complete Weight Management System for a Lifetime of Health. See the link to the right. I'm learning so much! And, what I really like already about this book is that Dr. Moore seeks to empower the consumer. Echoing my philosophy that every body is unique and each one must develop her own fitness regime. He, of course, being very educated, can break down terms like ATP so that I finally get it! I've gotten a better understanding of such basic terms as protein, fat and carbohydrates and such entertaining but deadly terms as the "Fat Cocktail". Very well written too, which is a delight to me.  So let's see what I'm going to experiment with in my body laboratory. I'll keep ya posted. That interview is August 12, in the evening I believe.

So, what're you up to? Are you playing with your Wii on a regular basis? I am. We have a new Wii Wednesday spot so now we have three homes to rotate among. And we are having so much fun playing with our friends.

Feeling good? Me too. This is Penda, with a new aperture, The Geek Goddess of Virtual Fitness FABB, as always, virtually yours and in the flow...

    Thursday, July 17th regarding show

Well, yesterday was Wii Wednesday and I'm feeling it this morning...lol. It was me and Gato and Rick playing and we had so much fun. It's amazing how good you can get at tennis! That's all we played. Me and Gato brought our own wiimotes and even our Wii in case we played Ravin Rabbid b/c we have unlocked the entire game.

Yesterday, I got an email inviting me to Maine for a conference about exergaming! So glad that I'm making connections and getting the word out about Group Exercise Instructors and the Wii. Building bridges between the ideas and practical applications with groups for fitness' sake.

Today is the last day (and boy am I happy!) of the first ever Virtual Fitness FABB summer training camp. Everyone does deserve a certificate for Virtual Fitness FABB Facilitator with the Wii. These young boys have really worked hard and believe me, I worked 'em! Imagine playing Wii Sports for an hour, then DDR for an hour, then Wii Fit for an hour. It's been so much fun for me as well as hectic (in my apartment!) and stressful (eating us out of house and home) and I enjoyed it immensely. This is not the end, this is the beginning and I'm really looking forward to developing this very local, micro-micro, community approach to fitness.

As far as Group Ex instructors, I'm still reaching out and propagating the need to get with the 21st century and learn about Virtual Fitness and Exergaming so that we can be an integral part of the process that expands this field. If your interest is piqued, join my LInkedIn group and help build the field.

Okay, I'm going to eat breakfast...
