Hi there,
Hey thanks for dropping us a line at the website. I listened through you blogcast (from Tuesday I believe). Great to hear your eloquence and passion for training and the Wii. Thank you so much for giving us a mention as well.
The company format, as it exists now, is quite new. We are trying to develop a license for Exergaming in general so we can present a complete package to Gym here and abroad. Our style of Exergaming is based on the strength of the package rather than any singular piece of equipment, hardware or software. Having said that, the Wii is core to Exergaming success as its learning curve is short, it has a fast startup time (important in relation to technology/fitness equip) and its reliable. Most importantly, it’s also incredible fun, a HUGELY important factor for us and you as well, that I understood immediately from you blogcast J
So we are basically a sum of our parts rather than any one single ingredient. We try to represent four facets of training: Personal Instruction, Workout Planning, Meal Planning and Assessment-Monitoring. With those four areas, we can offer our clients (companies or individuals) a total fitness solution….one stop fitness shop J
I think being a ‘mobile’ solution, where we can take all the innovation of Exergaming TO the client, is extremely important. In the future, we wish to have an Exergaming Gym, but rental costs in the Downtown area are astronomical, so that will have to wait.
We are very passionate about trying to offer a very real solution in the workplace as well. What is Finland are called ‘Wellness Programs’. The schools here are very mindful of these programs as well, but funding to schools is give once a year and it’s a very hard ‘budget’ to break into.
Our whole model is really more functional outside of Finland, it would work much better in the US or Australia – I lived in Hermosa Beach LA for one year, it would go off like a forest fire there! So I’ve decided that I will get a start-up subsidiary company working in Australia as well. I’ll leave back to Oz in April (I’m originally from Australia incidentally). I’ll see what type of ‘feel’ I get for it there and take our Finnish model, fine tune it a little, and adapt it to Oz conditions.
Finns are fitness crazy, but mainly from a ‘Group Aerobic’ point of view. The Finns have had a few World Aerobic champions, as well as many bodybuilding success’, not to mention being regulars in Powerlifting championships and ‘Strongman’ competitions.
The commercial Gyms here however, are very badly run. There is next to no personal service or any real worthwhile advice. People don’t expect any service either, so training is very much a hit and miss affair. Finns also dislike being ‘told or advised’ what to do, they are free thinkers to the extreme, so any ‘Personal Instruction’ company must be VERY respectful of their ‘philosophy’ and not preach or be too pushy.
In your face advertising or pushy marketing is considered insincere and superficial, as a result, our website it very understated, and a little ‘drab’ in many ways. The idea is to fill it with content, ‘Real’ content and not advertising. That will win over a Finn, eventually J
I hope I can get online when you are having your next Blogcast, the time difference makes it difficult however, and I’ll probably be in meetings all day, but If I can I’ll try and tune in at least, I might be able to ‘listen’ in the background :P
Let’s keep in touch and keep up the ‘evangelical enthusiasm’ for the Wii!!
Brett.
