  IS GOD A WHITE RACIST?
  

  Did I believe that it would always continue, and that man to the end of time would be permitted with impunity to usurp the same undue authority over his fellow, I would disallow any allegiance or obligation I was under to my fellow creatures, or any submission that I owed to the laws of my country; I would deny the superintending power of divine providence in the affairs of his life; I would ridicule the religion of the Savior of the world, and treat as the worst of men the ministers of an everlasting gospel; I would consider my Bible as a book of false and delusive fables, and commit it to the flames; nay, I would still go farther; I would at once confess myself an atheist, and deny the existence of a holy God.

  I grew up in the Church. I was baptized. I sung in the choir. I attended Sunday school. I've had more than my fair share of homecoming sweet potato pie. But all those days in "God's temple of worship"... did not answer my questions or quiet my suspicions. A doubting negro I remained.
  
  And slowly, interference trickled in.

  I read those four books in that order - not on purpose. Just happened that way. Each page was a soiled, steel toe boot thundering down on the "good book". By the time I made it to The Isis Papers, Dr. Marimba Ani's Yurugu & William H. Jones' Is God A White Racist?, my relationship with Christianity had been severed. The religion of White Supremacy has used Christianity to condition and abuse non-white people. This is a matter of record. And ain't nothing coming from the pulpit going to erase that.
  
  A fellow Victim of White Supremacy asked me why it is that so many non-white people who have worked to oppose the System of Racism, have also been in opposition to Christianity. Although there are a good number of non-white people who have kept a bible in one hand and a counter-racist agenda in the other, there are a nice chunk of Victims who have emptied the pews and trashed their crucifixes while trying to shake off the strongest religion in the known universe, White Supremacy.
  
  Malcolm X said, "So you call for the same God he calls for. When he's putting a rope around your neck, you call for God and he calls for God. And you wonder why the one you call on never answers you."
  
  The business of countering-racism will require that each Victim of White Supremacy question and perhaps reconceptualize everything. Including his/her relationship to and understanding of God. The April 5th presentation of The C.O.W.S. will attempt to do just that. Florida State professor William H. Jones will share his views on the System of Racism/White Supremacy and how Christianity has been used to condition non-white people to remain victims/slaves.
  
  I look forward to a fantastic presentation.
