Cato June Drops by Fantasy Sports and Politics

On the latest episode of Fantasy Sports and Politics Cato June stopped by to share some DC, District of Columbia, love to the show. Cato stopped in during our second hour and talked with the host Vic and Ric like old friends. Victor Gardner and Orenthal "Ricky" Stevens welcomed Cato in with open arms after giving him the business about missing the previous weeks show.

The conversation began with Vic and Ric tagging Cato about his High School, Anacostia, which was and is a rival of our, Dunbar, located in Washinton, DC. Cato took the ribbing very well. That conversation led straight into the condition of DC public schools and the funding for athletics in the school system today.

"I don't know if it's a combination of people who aren't giving back or the kids that are there. Of course the dynamics have changed but I go over there [Anacostia Senior High School] and you wak the halls and it's not the same. You don't see the same drive and or passion that was there 10 years ago," says June.

June went on to talk about his senior year of high school. "I remember my senior year. I think we had fire code violations. So we couldn't even go to or school for what we called training camp. We changed outside, we couldn't go into our locker room. We barely had enough people to go out on the field. I think the only reason we had cleats and gloves were because Art Monk [Hall of Famer for the Washington Redskins] and the University of Maryland donated them."

After the serious conversation about the state of the school system, June talked about the June Family Foundation. This is an organization he founded to help the youth of today acheive higher standards in education but more importantly in life. For more information and to help go to www.junefamilyfoundation.org and see what kind of difference Cato is making.

For and hour Cato talked about the state of the Texans and Bucs along with the CBA, Colective Bargining Agreement, between the NFLPA, National Football League Players Association, and NFL Owners. Vic and Ric got a better understanding of what inpending actions might occur if the NFL owners opt out of the current contract. The effect that could takeplace will hurt a lot of franchises but some of the lower end players will fill it even more.
