When the Denver Broncos selected quarterback Jay Cutler with the 11th pick in the 2006 NFL draft, the sky was the limit for the Vanderbilt product. But over a decade later, Cutler's professional football career has been sadly forgettable and he's facing a murky future. At the age of 33, Cutler is no spring chicken. On Wednesday, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that the soon-to-be ex-Chicago Bears signal-caller is contemplating retirement. The floundering Bears have stated their intentions to move on from Cutler after eight years, and it's unclear if the Indiana native will be able to catch on somewhere else. If Cutler does decide to keep playing the Miami Dolphins as the +175 front-runners to employ him next. Other quarterback-needy teams like the New York Jets (+275), San Francisco 49ers (+400), Cleveland Browns (+500), Chicago Bears (+500) and Houston Texans (+1000) are also on the board. Cutler's fall from grace has been, in a word, sad. The Bears signed ?Smokin' Jay? to a seven-year, $126-million extension in 2014 and he proceeded to lead the league in interceptions in the first year of that deal, while Chicago went 5-11, 6-10 and 3-13 in the next three seasons. Cutler's penchant for throwing brutal picks and his lackadaisical attitude created a ton of animosity among the Bears faithful, as the franchise made the playoffs just once in the Cutler era.
