America was founded on the principles of equal opportunity

Education play a key role in achieving the "American Dream."

When everyone don't have a fair chance at receiving an education, it can result in years or even decades of poverty.

Though African Americans experienced slavery, racism, and other atrocities that would have deterred them, they were determined  to gain equality that was promised to everyone in the United States

Dr. Jeff Littlejohn co-wrote a book  entitled 'Elusive Equality,"that focuses on the integration of public schools in Norfolk, Virginia and how that fight led to major changes that help everyone including African Americans to reach their goals of getting an education and to make their dreams a reality.

In addition, there will be a little history lesson about the city of Huntsville, Texas through the book, "Historic Walker County: The Story of Huntsville and Walker County" that will shed light on the most overlooked region of Texas.
