Episoe 100: Writing the Breakout Novel with Ally Bishop

Writing the Breakout Novel by Donald Maass has been, without question, the most influential book on writing I've ever read and enacted in my own work. Years ago, this gem arrived on my bookshelf right in time: I'd given up trying to find my writing voice and had gotten lost in the deluge of advice and classes that seemed to spring up around every corner (and this was before the internet was the distraction it is now). I absorbed this book like a sponge and then tackled improving my craft...and never looked back. It's less about "what" he says, and more about "how" he says it...though you could argue, his brilliance around why these tenets are so important is pretty convincing as well. You won't be sorry when you dig into this book or podcast.
