Sarah Hitchings and Julie Chancellor, doctoral students at the University of Louisville and graduate students in Dr. Bradley Carpenter’s Philosophy of Education course, interview Gary Howard, author of the book We Can’t Teach What We Don’t Know: White Teachers, Multiracial Schools.  Mr. Howard has published numerous articles on race, justice, and multicultural issues and has developed curriculum materials that are being used internationally.  He serves as a keynote speaker, writer, and workshop leader, traveling extensively throughout the country examining issues of privilege and power in education.  In the interview, Mr. Howard discusses the development and practical implementation of his educational philosophy.
