Some people have the nerve to question me. I love it when less educated people challenge me on What is ADHD. Or they get in my face telling me it doesn’t exist, it’s not real, or that the drug companies made it up. Findings answers for myself is very important since I handle my Adult ADHD every single day; pretty damn well. When it comes to what is ADHD I want to have tangible evidence in order to help people understand. I have a personal vendetta against the enormous drugging of our kids’s brains that haven’t even finished developing yet. (I can already hear the screams of the minority of people that medication helps)
Why do they then decide (usually without doing any real research on the subject) that they know enough about what are acceptable and unacceptable treatments ( i.e., Either Ritalin is awesome OR Ritalin is a tool of the anti-christ) and condemn someone for using what they deem are unacceptable treatments? As if the brain is easier to understand than the body.
Once they learn about the condition and begin to deal with it, by proper evaluation, proper treatment (not always drugs), metabolic changes, cognitive coaching, proprioceptive therapy, environmental changes, support groups or other methods. Then they can start focusing on and developing the advantages of having ADD. This is exactly what SHINE Doctors perform.
