Deana Dean has been a powerful voice for sisterhood since 2001 when she first began writing and
performing poetry. A community builder, she has been a integral part of building several renown
poetry sets, a founding partner of Chicago’s PeaceNIC, an annual arts community outdoor gathering,
and vital member of the artistic community in general.
Dean’s style is as smooth as it can be boisterous yet continually thought provoking and refreshingly
challenging. She is influenced by many of the greats but finds her poetic peers within the Chicago
artistic community to be her greatest source of inspiration. She has authored a spoken word DVD,
“Growing Pains?” (2003) and one novel, “Boy Crazy,” (2017) available on Amazon in both physical
and digital formats.
