Business acumen - keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with business situations in a manner that is likely to lead to a good outcome.

Entrepreneur -  one who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.

All of the above pertains to our special guest business owner and entrepreneur, Derek Booker. He will share with us what it takes to get and remain persistent  as an independent business owner. What mindset must one possess to handle the challenges that come as a result of being a business owner, and is throwing in the proverbial towel an option?

Formerly employed by American Express, he envisioned more than the normal 9 to 5 grind of corporate America. With that vision, in 1999, he set forward with a plan and has not looked back. He is currently the CEO of Progressive Commercial Services, a full service, minority owned janitorial company headquartered in High Point, NC.

Always looking to stay in the know for lucrative business opportunities, he is currently an independent business owner with the business level of Executive Trainer with 5LINX Enterprises, a Direct Sales Company that markets Essential Services, Health Care, and Wellness products.

He is married to Barbara G. Booker and is the father of two.
